About the Challenge
Unlock the ultimate quant playground. The iRage AlgoArena invites the next generation of data-driven traders to push the limits of predictive modeling. Dive deep into live market dynamics, build sophisticated algorithms from the ground up & bridge the gap between theoretical data science & split-second execution decisions. The arena is waiting.
Participation
Rules
Solo Competition Only
This is an individual challenge. Collaborative efforts or team-based entries will be disqualified to ensure a fair assessment of each participant's personal skill set.
Technological Freedom
You have full autonomy over your tech stack. You are encouraged to use the programming languages & technical tools preferred for data modeling, analysis, & performance-driven computing.
Original Logic & Transparency
While the use of modern IDEs, libraries & development frameworks is permitted, your final submission must be a primary reflection of your own critical thinking.
Integrity & Ethical Tooling
If Generative AI or auto-completion tools are used to assist in boilerplate coding, the core architectural decisions & analytical insights must remain yours. We value "how" you solved the problem as much as the solution itself.

Got Questions?
FAQs
Who can participate?
The hackathon is open to all undergraduate (UG) students currently enrolled at IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITS,
or any equivalent engineering institutes in India.
Is this a team event?
No. This is a solo competition. Each participant must submit their own independent solution. Multiple submissions from the same participant are not allowed.
How do I register?
You can register using the official link provided on this page. Make sure to use your institute's email ID
and have your enrollment details handy. Registrations start on 17th March 2026 and close on 21st March 2026.
Is there a registration fee?
No. Participation is completely free of charge.
What kind of problem will be given?
The challenge will be rooted in quantitative reasoning, data analysis, coding and algorithmic thinking –
areas central to how modern trading firms operate. Expect problems involving large datasets, signal detection,
optimization, or strategy design. The full problem statement will be released at the start of the hackathon.
Do I need prior trading or finance knowledge?
No prior trading or financial markets experience is required. Strong skills in coding, mathematics,
statistics, and problem-solving are more than sufficient to compete effectively.
How long is the hackathon?
The hackathon runs for 21 days (3 weeks) starting from 23rd March 2026 to 12th April 2026. The exact schedule,
including start time and submission deadline, will be shared with registered participants in advance.
What programming languages can I use?
You are free to use any programming language and frameworks you are comfortable with. The problem is designed
to reward strengths in data modelling, analysis, and performance-driven computing, so bring your best thinking
in whichever stack enables that most effectively for you.
Can I use AI-assisted development tools?
Yes, modern development and AI-assisted tools can be used. However, the solution should clearly reflect your
own logic, reasoning and approach. Solutions that appear entirely AI-generated without original thought
will be excluded during evaluation.
What computer or infrastructure do I need?
A standard laptop or personal computer is sufficient. No special hardware is required. Cloud platforms may be
used at your own discretion.
Will data or APIs be provided?
Yes. Any datasets or inputs required to solve the problem will be provided as part of the problem statement.
You will not need to source external data.
How will submissions be evaluated?
Submissions will be judged on: correctness and effectiveness of the solution, quality and clarity of the
approach and methodology, code quality and structure, and originality of thinking.
When and how will results be announced?
Results will be announced on 25th April 2026. Top performers will be displayed on the website leaderboard
and contacted directly via their registered email.
What are the prizes?
Exciting prizes await the top performers, including cash prizes, goodies and certificates. Details will be
announced shortly.
Does performing well lead to job or internship opportunities at your firm?
Absolutely. This hackathon is also a talent discovery initiative. Outstanding participants may be fast-tracked
for internship or full-time interviews at iRage, across quantitative research, trading technology and
software engineering roles.
Will all participants receive certificates?
Participation certificates will be issued to all eligible participants who make a valid submission.
What constitutes a fair / valid submission?
Your submission must be entirely your own work. Sharing solutions, plagiarism, or any form of collusion will
result in immediate disqualification.
Can I discuss the problem with others during the hackathon?
No. Since this is an individual competition, discussing the problem or your approach with others during the
event window is not permitted.
Who can I contact for queries?
For any questions, reach out to us at hackathon@irage.in.
